I volunteer one day a week with the Red Cross as a Community Transportation driver, driving people throughout the Columbus area to their various medical appointments. It is such a pleasure getting to know our clients who are truly grateful for this service. Prior to my volunteering days, I worked as a public health official conducting inspections and working on administrative teams. After quitting work I did consulting on planning and zoning issues especially in the areas concerning public health. I quit work to be a full-time Mom and since then I have done many volunteer activities as well as a few part-time jobs. I have volunteered for the American Cancer Society's Hope Lodge which is a residential facility for adults battling cancer where they can stay for free while undergoing cancer treatment. I also volunteered with the American Cancer Society's Road to Recovery program which provided transportation to cancer patients to and from their treatment locations. I also served as the volunteer Women's Ministry Director for two years at a large non-denominational Christian church of about 3000 people in the Indianapolis area. For the past 5 years I have volunteered in two different inner-city elementary schools in their libraries helping the librarian in various duties. I also volunteered in all grade levels for my children as they were going through school. I am currently a member of the Nationwide Children's Hospital Women's Committee for The Memorial Golf Tournament held every spring in Dublin, Ohio. I love my volunteer work, but have also spent much of my life devoted to my family including my husband of 25 years, my two twin daughters who are currently seniors in college and our two ten-year-old cats.
